Body Mapping and The Voice
Saturday, September 12th, 2020
11am – 1:30 pm
Held Online via Zoom!
The way that we think about our body is the way that we use the body. The more refined our understanding of how the body is designed to be used in movement, the more refined our movement will be. The result? Ease of movement, greater range of activity, and an embodied, freer voice.
In this workshop we will learn the technique of Body Mapping. We will explore how our current view of our bodies are limiting us and correct our perspectives to match more closely the reality. Using simple sketching, anatomy books, and somatic movement, our understanding of functional movement will shift in subtle and profound ways.
Finding that your voice gets stuck, tight, less resonant, tired, or misinterpreted? Typically correcting your understanding, and use, of the body will bring dramatic results.
Participants can expect a low level intensity of movement, an invitation to let creativity and technique combine, and anatomical study that is accessible for all.
