Description
May 30, 31, 2015 – 1-4pm (selling out fast!)
This two-day immersion in vocal embodiment work is a must attend event! The workshop focuses on a somatic approach to finding freedom and power in the voice. We will learn the Developmental Path humans go through as they navigate their body’s movement, breath, and perception from laying on their belly all the way to when they can finally stand and walk. This helps you become more aware of your body and how to use it with effort and ease, build necessary muscles for proper alignment, release external muscles that inhibit your power and breath, and much more! Then we speak while going through the Developmental Path to allow the creative impulses deep within the body to come into the voice. It’s a practice that allows spontaneity, clarity, connection, and freedom!
We’ll be using techniques from Body-Mind Centering, Fitzmaurice Voicework, and master teacher Patsy Rodenburg. While the workshop doesn’t focus specifically on singing, you will find that the awareness and techniques gained from this workshop will help you in singing and speaking.
This is a physically oriented class that is appropriate for dancers, stage and film actors, singers, movers, yoga teachers, Pilates teachers, people interested in physical theatre, acro-yoga, and more. It will help sharpen skills for improvisational actors. Honestly, it’s some of my favorite work. But I do want to entice/warn you that it is physically oriented. Get your body connected to your voice! It’s so freeing. *Participants will need knee pads.
